What we store, and what never leaves your machine.
Your screenshots and recordings are not uploaded
ScreenDesk composites frames and encodes files in your browser. The image or recording you drop in is read by the page, drawn to a canvas on your own machine, and written back out as a download. It is never sent to a server, so there is no copy of it to store, retain, or hand to anyone. Your projects are held in your browser’s local storage and are not synchronised anywhere.
This is a property of how the product is built rather than a promise about how it is operated, which is why it can be stated this plainly.
What an account stores
An account exists for one reason: so a purchase follows you between browsers and machines. It holds your email address, the name you chose (which may be your email), a hashed password, and whether the address has been verified.
Signing in also creates a session record, which stores its own expiry, the IP address and the browser user-agent it was created from. That is ordinary session security — it is what lets a session be expired and identified — and it is deleted when the session is.
Payment
Payments are handled by Polar. Card details are entered on their systems and are never seen by, or stored on, this one. What this app keeps is the association between your account and their customer record, which is how it knows whether you own Lifetime. Entitlement is read from Polar when asked rather than mirrored into a local table.
Cookies
One session cookie, set when you sign in, so the next page knows it is still you. There is no advertising, no third-party analytics, and no tracking cookie on this site.
Deleting your account
Write to hello@screendesk.app and the account and its sessions will be removed. Because nothing you made is stored server-side, deleting an account does not delete any of your work — that has only ever been on your own machine.
